New Client FAQ’s

Account Options

You have several options for managing your retirement assets:

  1. Leave the assets with your current employer.
  2. Roll the assets over to your new employer's plan.
  3. Transfer the assets into an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) with your financial representative.
  4. Cash out your assets. It's important to discuss these options with your financial advisor to ensure you understand any applicable fees and services.

Account Setup

You can rollover your assets through a direct rollover of cash or by transferring assets. For a direct rollover, you will work directly with your plan administrator, who will provide the necessary paperwork to process the distribution to your IRA. If you are opting for a transfer of assets (TOA), you will collaborate with your advisor. A TOA is a non-reportable and non-taxable transfer of cash or eligible securities from one account to another, provided both accounts have the same or compatible registration and account type.

  • If you have online access to your accounts, you can link your accounts directly to our financial planning software, and a member of your advisor’s team can assist you with the steps to follow. This link will only share the high-level details with us, such as the account balance and holdings within the account. Personal information, such as login credentials, beneficiaries, and account registrations/account holders, is not transferred into the financial planning software. You will have the option to specify sharing account transactions with Allegheny.
  • Your advisor’s team can provide you with a secure upload link to our server to safely transfer the documents directly to Allegheny.
  • You may send electronic copies via email or fax, or printed copies via the U.S. Postal Service.
  • Finally, you are welcome to have your accountant or attorney file share or email electronic documents directly to Allegheny. Discuss which option is best for you with a member of your advisor’s team.
