Why did you choose financial planning as your profession?

Growing up, financial literacy was not taught, and it certainly was not shown to my family or me. As I witnessed people working hard yet continuously falling behind due to a lack of knowledge, I realized the importance of financial education. Motivated by this experience, I wanted to become the go-to person for all things finances—investments, retirement, tax planning, and more. Now, here at AFG, I can provide the comprehensive financial planning every client deserves.

What are your favorite kinds of clients to work with?

I enjoy working with high earners who are not rich yet (HENRYs). Many young professionals have large and complex compensation packages that might not have been translated into vast net worth just yet. I work with these clients to help them make the most of their salary, bonuses, RSUs, ISOs, deferred compensation, and more, so their net worth matches their income.

What do you think are the most important steps people can take to improve their financial well-being?

I might sound a bit biased, but I believe working with a Certified Financial Planner® professional is one of the most important steps you can take. Just as you go to a doctor for medical advice or a lawyer for legal help, it makes sense to turn to a financial expert for something as important as your life savings.

What are some important things to consider when choosing a financial advisor?

When you are working with a financial advisor, it is important to gauge the types of services you are receiving for your cost. Are you receiving just investment management? Does your financial advisor look at your tax returns? How are they planning to organize your estate? Have they talked with you about how to minimize taxes during your retirement? True, holistic financial planning goes much deeper than just percentages and dollar signs.

How do you like to spend time outside of the office?

I love to go to church with my wife (Mia) and son (Brody), golf with friends, and enjoy watching sports with family and friends.

What are you a fan of?

Miami Dolphins, Cincinnati Reds, and LSU Tigers.

What causes or community organizations are important to you?

I enjoy supporting the Tim Tebow Foundation.

Who is one of your heroes, and why do you admire them?

My Grandpa Bob. He has never met a stranger in his life and always looks at life with an optimistic viewpoint.
